In the HCI Lab, we firmly believe in extending the impact of our HCI research and teaching to the broader public. We seek to transcend our research community to inspire as many different individuals as possible, and by closely integrating our outreach activities with our HCI research and teaching programs we hope to make a difference outside of the HCI Lab in the broader Saudi and Arab communities.
Our outreach activities fall into three themes:
-
HCI learning and teaching 'everywhere' across our affiliated labs,
-
Opening the HCI lab to the public, and
-
Inspiring early engagement in STEM
See our events in the 2010-2017 timeframe:
-
IEEE Foundation-sponsored "Computing & Me" workshops for youth in STEM
-
Makers Day events at a local and national scale
-
Workshop for developing skills in physical computing and ubiquitous computing
